The Beauty in CSS Design

css1k.com

gregbabula:

A demonstration of what can be accomplished with only 1 K (Kibibyte) of CSS. Select any design from the list to load it into this page.

CSS1K invites you to show that web developers are more inventive than ever, and that limitations can sparkle creativity.

this is pretty inspirational. Sometimes I like parameters like this, it really forces people find creative solutions, probably out of spite for the limitation. Which makes it more satisfying.

To prefix or not to prefix?

bricss:

Sometimes it may look arbitrary if a browser maker decides to use a vendor prefix or not when implementing new features. But it’s not some haphazard affair – there are pretty elaborate rules for this.

By the way, the easiest way to check if you should use vendor prefixes or not is still caniuse.com!

Wow. This looks pretty complicated. Interesting read though.

Bones

A Wordpress Development Theme

Bones Makes Things Simple
Bones was created after years of editing and reusing the same template to develop custom sites. It came from trial and error and tons of experience customizing templates. I trimmed the fat on stuff that you don’t really need as well as adding things you almost always have to use plugins for. HTML5 & well written & documented CSS, yea it’s in there. Oh and did I mention it was also crafted using techniques found in the HTML5 Boilerplate, so you know, there’s that.

Another progressive html5 friendly wordpress theme. I appreciate this one because it does have user friendly documentation.

I'm a designer/art director/geek that likes to make things on (and off) the internet. I'm black, live in the DFW metroplex, work at an ad agency, and drink alone in the dark on week nights. While being black, I write this blog as a creative outlet.

My work has been featured multiple times by Tumblr, published in NET Magazine, Communication Arts, Adweek, The Webbys, HOW Design, W3 Awards, Web Designer Magazine, Under Consideration, Awwwards, Web Design Ledger, Web Designer Depot, Designworklife, Speckyboy, my mom's Facebook Timeline, and a variety of other publications.

I am currently unmarried, live alone, have no pets, and believe in the Oxford comma. I like eating tacos as well. Pants optional.
