Music Video of the Day: Darren Criss, Kevin McHale, Hanson, Kenny G, Corey Feldman, Debbie Gibson, and Rebecca Black (who is thirteen years old, btw) star in Kathy Beth Terry Katy Perry’s Marc Klasfeld-helmed music video for “Last Friday Night.”

I’m sorry if if I get my ghetto pass revoked, but I love this song, and I love this video. A main reason is because it’s so reminiscent of John Hughes movies.

P.S.

+10 for some Kenny G

Katy Perry Music Video of the Day: “E.T.” (feat. Kanye West)

Well, here it is a few hours early, Floria Sigismondi’s much-teased, sNSFW visuals for Katy Perry’s “Firework” follow-up. Enjoy?

[vevo.]

You know, I know there’s a significant portion that won’t agree, but I’ll say it anyway. I really liked this video, and I enjoyed this song. This brought me back to a time (90s and early 00s) when music videos had bigger budgets, were scripted out, and had a cinematic quality to them. There was even a show called “making of the video”. But after the death of Music Television/Total Request Live (no seriously flip to MTV at any given time and tell me if you see any actual musical performances), and the rise of my forever arch-nemesis, reality tv, the overall quality and effort into music videos seemed to decline.

Of course there are exceptions to the rule, such as this, but I’m speaking in generalities. “I want my MTV” as the old marketing catch phrase goes.

Who the hell is this guy?

Oh wow, someone's actually reading this? OK, this is happening. My name is Alex and I'm a designer with slight anti-social tendencies. I'm black, live in the DFW metroplex, work at an ad agency, and drink alone in the dark on week nights. While being black, I write this blog as a creative outlet when not starting flame wars over the best episode of Battlestar Galactica (Gaeta's Uprising or The Final Five Revelation of course). I share interactive & design inspiration, the latest in pop culture, movies, and general nerdery.

I am currently unmarried and live alone. I make egg sandwiches and have no pets. I like eating tacos with no pants as well.
