Happy 25th Birthday, World Wide Web! Our Gift: An Intentionally Brief History Of You
On March 12, 1989, the visual layer of the Internet was quietly revealed, fundamentally changing the way we communicate, research, consume and share media, waste time at work, and, well, do everything else really. It was called the World Wide Web. To celebrate, we’ve put together a purposefully brisk and oversimplified history (trust us, you don’t want to see the unabridged version) leading up to its now 25 years of existence.

What kind of idea are you? Are you the kind that compromises, does deals, accommodates itself to society, aims to find a niche, to survive; or are you the cussed, bloody-minded, ramrod-backed type of damn fool notion that would rather break than sway with the breeze? – The kind that will almost certainly, ninety-nine times out of hundred, be smashed to bits; but, the hundredth time, will change the world.

Hey people of Tumblr check this out. It’s important. I got the chance to design/art direct on this really important digital campaign for United Nations. Reblog and signal boost this if you can, and men of Tumblr, participate if you can by submitting a video for use on HeForShe’s youtube channel. There’s also a hashtag on Twitter too.

It’s so simple and only takes a few minutes. Basically either record using youtube, and submit the link to the site, or record on your own and upload itt via a form here. If you’re not sure what to talk about, look at the youtube channel to see the other submissions or go to heforshe.org and click the “need help finding your voice?” link.

If you’re a man, speak up. Women’s equality is human equality.

Here are some other links about press for the campaign (either directly or indirectly):
New York Times
Forbes
Huffington Post
Bloomberg
The Drum
Ads of the World

And a pre-thanks for your help & consideration!

Who the hell is this guy?

Who the hell is this guy?

Oh wow, someone's actually reading this? OK, this is happening. My name is Alex and I'm a designer with slight anti-social tendencies. I'm black, live in the DFW metroplex, work at an ad agency, and drink alone in the dark on week nights. While being black, I write this blog as a creative outlet when not starting flame wars over the best episode of Battlestar Galactica (Gaeta's Uprising or The Final Five Revelation of course). I share interactive & design inspiration, the latest in pop culture, movies, and general nerdery.

I am currently unmarried and live alone. I make egg sandwiches and have no pets. I like eating tacos with no pants as well.
